Hell Comes To Frogtown

I recently watched Hell Comes To Frogtown (1988) (for the third time) with some friends. It is a low-budget thrill ride featuring Roddy Piper and Sandahl Bergman. I really enjoy this movie.

The basic plot, warning spoilers ahead, revolves around Sam Hell (played by Roddy Piper). The film is set in a post-apocalyptic future in which fertility is valued over everything else (shades of a Handmaid’s Tale). Sam is found to be fertile after being captured and tortured for unnamed crimes and takes a deal in which he will be exonerated for his crimes if he rescues and impregnates a group of fertile women from a mutant run stronghold, Frogtown. Sam and Spangle (played by Sandahl Bergman), Sam’s handler, infiltrate Frogtown posing as a slave trader and slave. The leader, a frogman mutant, of Frogtown, captures both Sam and Spangle. Sam is sent to be tortured and killed and Spangle is forced to provide erotic services to the leader of Frogtown. Sam escapes and frees Spangle and the other women enslaved by the mutants of Frogtown. They escape and are pursued by the leader and his goons in an armored car. After some fighting, Sam kills the Frogtown leader and returns to fulfill his contract.

I realized this sounds like the plot of a softcore porno but it is not. It is an action-comedy with a small amount of nudity. It is fun and silly and worth a viewing. If you are looking for it online it is available on Tubi for free with ads and YouTube for rent.

Movies, Movies, And More Movies

Found myself on the run again but my motorcycle crashed into a barbed wire fence

I could’ve sworn you were following me in a run away soviet submarine

I saw your face in the rearview mirror, I turn around and your not there

Now I’m trapped in a building and I’m tied to the top

An I’m trying to make it out before the bomb goes off

I think I know, its like id seen it all before

And I think I know

So please keep quiet don’t spoil the ending”

Stuck In A MovieThe Aquabats!

Here is a list of some of my favorite movies. It is not exhaustive, but it is extensive. I decided to put them in release order. I’m going to keep it to only one or two sentences for each movie due to the length of the list. I hope you find this interesting. Enjoy!

The Wolfman (1941) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034398/ – Classic Horror

In my opinion, this is the best werewolf movie ever made. Even better than The Howling (1981) which is a great film as well.

Forbidden Planet (1956) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049223 – Classic Science Fiction

The best science fiction film ever made in my humble opinion. It has action, drama, and a strong message.

Green Slime (1968) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064393 – Science Fiction Horror

Crazy science fiction fun. I watch it whenever I just need a good escape.

Star War: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080684 – Science Fiction

The best of the original trilogy. Some much happens in this film.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082971 – Action Adventure

The first of the Indiana Jones films. Saw it in theaters. I still watch it every chance I get.

This movie freaked me out and grossed me out at the same time. I love it.

A great cast. Lots of fun action. Worth a watch if you can find it.

Punks vs the undead. There is no better zombie movie.

Night Of The Comet (1984) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087799 – Science Fiction Horror Comedy

Two military brats vs a world of mutants and evil scientists. What could be better?

Best spoof of Kung Fu movies ever made.

Little Shop Of Horrors (1986) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091419 – Musical Comedy Horror

Technically a remake of The Little Shop Of Horrors (1960), but far superior in every way as far as I am concerned.

Prince Of Darkness (1987) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093777 – Horror

Although it is heretical to the Christian faith, I love this movie. It is a thinking man’s horror.

Bruce Willis’ big breakout movie role. It’s not Christmas without a viewing of this film.

A great sea-borne horror movie. It stars Treat Williams and Kevin J. O’Connor, how could that be better.

The Matrix (1999) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093 – Science Fiction

Keanu Reeves best film after Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989). No spoilers. Just watch it.

There is something magical about this movie. None of the other Marvel films eclipse it.

The Cabin In The Woods (2012) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1259521 – Horror

Best horror movie ever made.

Dredd (2012) – https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1343727 – Cyberpunk Action

Judge Dredd as he should be done. Great Movie.

Although it does not have Ron Perlman in it, it is still an awesome film. Great cast and story.

22 More Things About Me You Might Not Know

As a follow-up to my article 15 Things About Taylor (might or might not want to know) from 2015, I’ve decided to tell you 22 more things about myself that you may or may not want to know. So here we go:

(Disclaimer: you might not like what you find below, but it is all part of who I am.)

  1. My favorite movie of all time is Forbidden Planet (1956).
  2. I met the voice actor who plays Mr Torgue, Chris Rager, from the Borderlands Franchise at Anime Fusion.
  3. I love giant monster movies, specifically Godzilla and Gamera films. All of them, no matter how cheesy.
  4. My favorite video game is Borderlands 2 from the Borderlands Franchise. Honestly, I love the whole franchise, but number 2 really sticks out above the rest.
  5. I love to drink Diet Dr Pepper and occasionally Diet Mountain Dew.
  6. I am currently doing WW for weight loss. I have lost 30lbs as of the writing of this article.
  7. My favorite anime is Beautiful Dreamer.
  8. I watch Svengoolie almost every Saturday night.
  9. I always thank Alexa (my Echo Dot) after she does something for me. I, for one, welcome our future AI overlords.
  10. I spend way too much money on Patreon and Kickstarter.
  11. I own a lot of journals that I am not using. I’m trying to get better about journaling, but I find I just do it here on my blog.
  12. I don’t drink alcohol any more. I used to be a big fan of beer but it messed with my depression so I gave it up.
  13.  All of the Tremors movies are awesome. Even the third one that basically just set up the TV show. Burt Gummer is a personal hero of mine.
  14. Lego is the greatest toy of all time. I don’t have any, but I love them.
  15. I own way too many dice. I bet I’ve got at least 3 lbs of them.
  16. I am no longer on the staff of Anime Fusion. I decided to leave because life was getting in the way.
  17. As I get older, I find I am having more and more “get off my lawn” moments.
  18. I have won NaNoWriMo once. It was a lot of work and the novel I wrote was bad (and will never see the light of day), but I won!
  19. I have a very talkative pet cat named Sasha.
  20. I believe in Resistentialism. Hence the name of this blog.
  21. Taco Bravos from Taco John’s are the best. I like to get two of them and some Potato Ole’s. It makes for a great dinner or lunch. (Note: I can not have any Potato Ole’s now that I am on WW.)
  22. I’m married to my wonderful wife, Chris. We have been married for over 30 years.

Bonus Facts:

  • I love seeing movies in the theater. There is something special about the theater experience I can’t explain but I love. I grew up before and during the age of video tape. So for many years of my life your only option to see a movie was to go to a theater or watch it in an edited form on TV.
  • My back pain and depression are currently very well controlled. I have spent a lot of time working with my doctor and a therapist to make this happen.
  • I miss seeing my friends in person and going places. COVID has made me adapt to an online life. I am not sure how much I like it. (Don’t get me wrong. Working from home is nice a lot of the time, especially in winter, but I miss people.)
